HIMARI
Born in Japan in 2011 (13 years old), Himari started playing the violin at the age of 3, studying under Koichiro Harada and Machie Oguri. At the age of 6, Himari performed with a professional orchestra. In 2022, himari became the youngest student to enroll in the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and currently study under the widely respected educator Ida Kavafian.
Grand Prize (higher than 1st place) at the 15th Lipinski-Wieniawski International Violin Competition in2021.
1st place and the Special Grand Prize at the 12th Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition (Belgium).
1st place and the Special Prize at the 26th Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition (Italy).
1st place at the 20th Nutcracker International Music Competition (Russia).
1st place at the 2nd Leonid Kogan International Violin Competition (Belgium).
In 2019, Himari participated in the International Summer Academy hosted by the University of Mozarteum Salzburg and received an award as the youngest participant at the concert held during the Salzburg Festival. At the “Mini Violini 2023” held as part of the Montreal International Violin Competition, Himari won the only award, the “Public Award”.
In March 2025, Himari will debut as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Zubin Mehta in a regular concert. In December 2024, Himari will perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra during the “New Year’s Eve Celebration” with the distinguished conductor Marin Alsop.
Himari also have numerous performances scheduled both domestically and internationally, including the soloisfor the Swiss Romande Orchestra’s Japan tour, Additionally, Himari will hold their first domestic recital tour, “HIMARI Violin Recital Tour 2024,” in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka.
Himari have previously performed with renowned conductors and orchestras such as Vladimir Spivakov, Nikolai Znaider, Ivan Stolbov, Keri-Lynn Wilson, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Kenichiro Kobayashi, Naoto Otomo, Junichi Hirokami, Kazuyoshi Akiyama, Keitaro Harada, Toshiaki Umeda, Kosuke Tsunoda, Tatsuya Shimono, Kanade Yokoyama, Motonori Kobayashi, Tsuyoshi Oi, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kiev National Philharmonic Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra, the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Gunma Symphony Orchestra.
Himari have performed in concerts across the United States, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Ukraine, Canada, and Japan.
Himari are currently lent the 1717 Stradivarius “Hamma” by Yusaku Maezawa and a bow from the Munetsugu Collection.
